We welcome the final report from Asylum Inquiry Scotland, which puts beyond doubt the harm caused to so many people by being abruptly moved into unsuitable hotel accommodation during the COVID pandemic and since.
The report lists practical recommendations around funding, commissioning and better practice but is explicit that these changes can only go so far. The asylum system is broken and in urgent need of overhauling. Refugees for Justice will continue to work with those affected by the Park-Inn incident and others who continue to seek justice. We see this report not as an end, but the beginning of taking concrete steps towards meaningful and lasting change.
